Size Category Business. In general, then, a very good piece of software. Just the one, rather glaring omission, from my point of view. The feature you are talking about is still there in this version, it's called redirection, or "folder redirection".

When you create a new connection or edit an existing one, its there under the Redirection tab next to the General and Session tabs. Redirection is not a very descriptive name for it seeing how it was located in RDC under "Drives". Thanks, Iamzam. That was the missing link I needed! My sincerest gratitude! Very easy to set up, much faster than the prior version. So far so good! Anyone find a direct download link without the app store involved? When it's working, RDC works well for me. I have no problems connecting to my work server, accessing files, printing, using the Internet, and so on. As a server client, it does everything I need it to do.

If it is missing any features, I'm not really aware of it, because I've never had to ask it to do anything that it can't do. And then it crashes Or it doesn't crash while I'm using it, and I log off the server, and it crashes It's not unstable to the point of being unusable, but it is certainly far from ideal in this respect. It's been more than two years without an update, so the situation simply has not improved.

For now, though, that simply isn't the case. Nearly useless. This app is almost complete garbage IMO.

It crashes or hangs constantly on multiple machines that I own, and you have to install the Microsoft Updater which is only best at updating itself. If Microsoft released updates for the rest of their Mac software as much as they did their Mac Updater maybe it'd be better. A co-worker showed me CoRD which is free and much, much better.

I just wanted to post an update here, someone pointed out to me that Microsoft maintains a newer and more robust version of Remote Desktop Connection in the Apple App store. There is also an iOS version in the iTunes store.

I just update my Remote Desktop Connection for Mac 2. I used this included in Office for Mac for several months, and was very happy with it. I established a VPN session, then could connect to any of the Windows 7 or Server servers in our office or our site, quickly and with no problems.

I'm using a 27" iMac, and even using x for my workstation window, I had no speed issues. It did crash once or twice during that time while I was using it - I shrugged, reopened the session, and continued. More irritating were the times it crashed when I closed the session by clicking the close button on the window.

The window hung around, black, until I force quit RDP. The other irritation was the opaque way it handled stored connections, and routinely overwrote them. There appears to be no way to configure this client to use a gateway, so I've had to fall back on the version on my Windows 7 VM, which has full functionality. Basically no different than the previous version, except that it crashes far more often.
